This route requires many miles in not so many days. Energy, motivation, and weather will ultimately come into play. Hopefully mechanical problems will not. We leave Chicago Friday afternoon for Des Moines, IA where we'll spend the night...and make a push for Canon City, CO on Saturday.
We take the entire day off on Sunday to go White Water Rafting with a good buddy, Kurt, on the Arkansas River through the Royal Gorge (The Royal Gorge is actually closed to commercial rafting right now because the water is too high). From there its up to us...and there are nearly endless options of roads that are positively divine for motorcycling.
The route below, or something similar, is likely. If its too hot to the south, we'll probably head north to Yellowstone National Park instead. More to come...
